There is 3 buttons at the footer of the page, these buttons look this: This page allows you to manually set your ArmA 2, and your ArmA 2 OA directories, but you won't need to do this unless you break something, so I won't go through that topic. Now, there is not much left, just a little more information and technical stuff, there is a page named "About" next and it contains information about the developer of the launcher, what it contains, and also what version the launcher is on. So I reccomend using DayZ Commander to join the Epoch server, all you need to do is filter for ! Without the "!" of course!
To directly join a server, simply highlight which server you want, by simply single clicking on it, the go down to the "Join Server" button and click it, this will launch ArmA 2 OA, with the RP mod enabled, this causes some problems as the Epoch server needs the DayZ mod, Epoch enabled, but the launcher is not used to this, and launches the RP mod, and not the Epoch mod. There are also other features availabe on the launch page, these are all fairly simple, just click on the button, and it will either open, IRC, which is the community chat, Teamspeak, which is voice communications, or open ArmA 2 OA with the RP mod enabled, but it will only launch to the menu, not in a server. If you want to show your friends that you're on ArmA 2, then enable Steam, this enables you to communicate with friends through Steam chat, you can also open an internet browser and view the community market if you feel like, but again, please don't metagame! To enable Steam overlay, simply click on the box "Enable Steam Overlay". You can enter these where there is a box saying "Custom Launcher Commands" and then you will type the command in on the box the right. These are both commands that can fix launch up of the server. If you want to add any launch commands, for example, "-malloc=system" and "-nosplash". It should look like this depending on who is online:
You will want to click the "Launch" button and you will be transferred to a page which looks like this:ĭon't worry, it may look different depending on the actual server stability, for example, on here the Epoch server is down, this is because of update testing, and the launcher also shows how many people are online, and if you hover over the number, you can see the names of players online, don't use this to metagame though! So, you now want to join the servers? You will see 3 options on the head of the launcher, they will look like this: Now you have the mod installed, you need to make sure you give the launcher permission to bypass your firewall, only do this if you PC asks automatically, otherwise it doesn't really matter. Once downloaded, the screen you have will the one as shown above. The mod should be installing, the download is around 1.7 gigabytes large, so not too big, the size of a typical Call of Duty DLC, so if you were installing at 2 megabytes per second, it would take you around 15 minutes. The only difference between my screen and yours is that if you have not yet installed the mod, the mod will be automatically installing once you give it permission to, if the launcher says a torrent is faster, then do what you feel comfortable with, I prefer to use the launcher personally, but it's all down to personal choice.
Once you have done this, you should be greeted by a screen looking like this:
exe of the launcher, you do this by simply clicking on the file, it should look something like this: This launcher allows users to automatically update the client, join the DayZRP servers, and also set launch commands to fix any problems you have.įirstly, you will need to download the launcher, find it here. I have made this guide firstly because I have seen a lot of new players getting a little confused about how the launcher works, and compatibility with things like Epoch etc.
